Studying Strategies to Alleviate Stress is targeted at students who face cognitive and/or emotional challenges with studying. This course aims to build personalized study skill sets for each student that can easily be generalized to all disciplines and grade levels.

This course succeeds in helping students feel at ease with homework and large study loads. Moreover, it gives them the opportunity to find their own effective ways to study.
Antigoni Karnesioti
Ms. Antigoni Karnesioti was born in Athens, Greece, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. During her studies, she also earned a specialization certificate in Special Education from the same University. In June 2018, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Sciences from Utrecht University in the Netherlands after having completed her educational research practice at Rutgers University, NJ, USA. Last year she completed two more specializations, one in Special Education and Learning Difficulties from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and one in Child Psychology from Panteion University. Ms. Karnesioti is fascinated by educational neuroscience and developmental psychology and tries to keep up with new training and research in these fields to enrich her educational practice.
She has been working as a Learning Differences Specialist since 2014 and is a firm practitioner of implementing up-to-date educational research in the school setting. She believes that differentiated instruction based on each student’s needs and learning profile is key to supporting children with or without learning difficulties.
She has been a member of ACS Athens and the OLP Department since 2020. In the past, she has worked as an Inclusion Specialist in the Academy, where she assisted faculty in delivering differentiated instruction. For the past two years, she has been working as an Academy OLP Specialist, where she is directly supporting and empowering Academy students to reach their fullest academic potential.
She is an advocate for inclusion, intersectionality, and human rights, and she enjoys being the Academy advisor of two clubs, the Inclusivity Club and the Koinwnos Service Club. In her spare time, Ms. Karnesioti loves to teach Greek as a second language to refugees and refugee children. Last but not least, she is fond of creative writing and film, and in the summer of 2022, she made her first short film about the lack of accessibility in the city of Athens.

This past week we have been learning about how to take down notes effectively and different methods that help us. The note-taking method I find extremely helpful is the Cornell method. It helps me organize the information, in order for me to have a better understanding of the topic that I am studying.

I will let my daughter, Katerina, provide her own feedback on this masterclass, however, I wanted to commend you and the teacher for organizing this course. My daughter went from experiencing tremendous anxiety before and during exams to a confident test-taker using Ms. Karnesioti’s strategies. She found the teacher engaging and insightful, which is not an easy task for an online course.
