The Testing Center serves as a partner in your child’s learning journey as part of ACS Athens’ holistic approach to student success.
Our aim is to focus on uncovering each student’s unique learning profile by identifying their strengths, challenges, and untapped potential so we can recommend personalized educational support, both within the school system and beyond.
No two students are alike, and neither are our solutions. Every report and recommendation we provide is tailored to your child’s individual needs, creating personalized paths to help them thrive.

Assessment Packages
Comprehensive Evaluation
Provides a complete psycho-educational profile to understand a student’s learning strengths and needs. This ensures tailored recommendations for academic and personal growth.
Cognitive Assessment
Evaluates a student’s reasoning and problem-solving abilities in relation to their verbal comprehension, visual spatial abilities, fluid reasoning skills, working memory, and processing speed.
Language Development
Evaluates a student’s language skills, including receptive and expressive language skills. Strong language skills are foundational for academic success and social interactions.
Executive Functioning
Assesses skills like organization, prioritization, time management, attention and self-regulation critical to learning and daily life. Strengthening these abilities enhances independence and academic achievement.
Social-Emotional Wellbeing
Examines a student’s socio-emotional wellbeing, such as, symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, etc. and the impact that this can have on a student’s personal and academic journey.
Behavioral Insights
Identifies patterns in behavior including, inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and potential disruptive behavior.
Tailored Services
Speech Therapy
Speech and language therapy helps children develop communication skills by improving their ability to understand and use language effectively. It supports speech clarity, vocabulary development, sentence structure, and social communication skills.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps children develop the skills needed for daily activities. It improves fine and gross motor skills, coordination, sensory processing, and self-regulation.
Our on-campus location enables close collaboration with educators for deeper insights beyond standardized assessments, offering both current and new students a familiar, nurturing environment.

1. How should I explain the testing to my child?
Let them know the testing is to understand how they learn best and to help them succeed. Reassure them it’s not a pass-or-fail process, just engaging activities like puzzles, questions, and games.
2. Does my child need to prepare for the tests?
No preparation is necessary. Encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy meal, and come ready to do their best.
3. How long does the testing process take?
The duration of testing varies based on the type of assessment. Parents are informed about the expected time frame before the process.
4. What specific assessments will be administered to my child?
The assessments are tailored to your child’s unique needs and may include evaluations of cognitive abilities, academic skills (reading, writing, math), and emotional or behavioral functioning. Each evaluation is thoughtfully selected to provide meaningful insights into your child’s learning profile. The process begins and concludes with parent sessions to discuss goals, findings, and next steps.
5. What results will I receive?
You will get a report outlining the specific areas that will be assessed. A thorough psychoeducational report includes tailored recommendations to guide their academic and personal growth.
6. How will the results be explained to us?
We’ll schedule a meeting with parents to review the findings in detail. We’ll explain each assessment, what it measures, and how your child performed, highlighting their strengths and any areas needing support.
In some cases, results may lead to a clear diagnosis. In others, patterns may be explained by environmental or emotional factors, or no diagnosis may be needed.
7. How reliable are the test results?
The results provide a current snapshot of your child’s functioning, offering accurate insights into their learning and development.
8. Will the results include strengths as well as challenges?
Yes, we emphasize strengths and use them as a foundation for growth. Feedback is shared in a positive and actionable way, providing next steps to support your child’s development.
9. How will the results guide interventions or accommodations?
The results will guide tailored recommendations for academic and personal support at school and home, ensuring your child receives the help they need.
10. Do you recommend specific therapies or programs based on the findings?
Yes, all recommendations are personalized and based on your child’s unique learning profile.
11. How often should my child be reassessed?
Reports are generally valid for three years, but reassessment may be needed if there are significant changes in your child’s learning or behavior.
12. Is testing covered by insurance or other funding sources?
Currently, insurance or other funding does not cover the cost of testing.
13. Where will the testing take place?
Testing is conducted on the ACS Athens campus at the Testing Center during the school day, providing a familiar and supportive environment for your child.
