About
The Upcycle EcoMakers Program is designed to inspire the next generation of creative thinkers, problem-solvers, and eco-conscious innovators. Through engaging and collaborative activities, and real-world projects, students develop a deep understanding of sustainability, responsible consumption, and environmental stewardship.
Participants explore the principles of the 8Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, and Recycle, while learning how thoughtful design and engineering can turn everyday waste into useful, beautiful, and imaginative creations.
At the heart of the program is the Upcycle EcoMakers 3D Masterclass, an immersive, hands-on experience where students bring ideas to life.
Objectives
By the end of the program, students will be able to:
- Understand and apply the fundamentals of design thinking, from ideation to prototyping
- Explore the basics of 3D printing, including materials, design, and real-world applications
- Learn core principles of mechanical engineering, such as motion, structure, and simple mechanisms
- Develop awareness of recycling and sustainability by identifying materials that can be reused or repurposed creatively
- Build confidence in using tools, materials, and emerging technologies safely and effectively
- Translate creative ideas into tangible outcomes, reinforcing the connection between imagination and execution
