Mark Wolper
In its first weekend, the “How to Make It in Hollywood” Masterclass by Mark Wolper and the Institute of ACS Athens welcomed participants that ranged in specialties, including producers, directors, actors, crew members and writers.
Mr. Wolper’s refreshing no-nonsense welcome to participants made it clear from the beginning that the goal of the masterclass would be to give participants the tools needed to break through in the grueling entertainment industry.
Not mincing words, he explained that succeeding in Hollywood is something akin to a miracle, and this masterclass was intended to help increase the likelihood of that miracle.
Much like the lessons in entrepreneurship learned through other Institute programs, Mr. Wolper, was brutally honest in making it clear that:
- Finding the courage to knock on and knock down doors is an absolute must.
- Like any business, the key to success is getting your foot in the door and selling yourself and your idea.
- Good ideas can come from everywhere, so be open to others’ ideas just as you doggedly pursue your own.

In the end, getting your foot in the door happens one of two ways according to Mr. Wolper – either by:
- Proving yourself, which can often be a chicken-and-the-egg scenario to get your start, OR…
- Finding a secret entry.
“And that’s what I am going to teach – that is what I am going to give you today” he underscored, referring to what participants could expect to gain as “little weapons that will get you doing what you want to do.”
From that point on, the masterclass journey began in earnest and will continue with the second weekend of the masterclass on June 22-23, 2024.
