Hernando Planells
Hernando Planells is the owner of Be Contagious Leadership where he helps teams and organizations grow their leadership, communication, and culture. He is also in his first season as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach of Jessup Women’s Basketball outside of Sacramento.
From 2013-2019 Hernando most recently served as the Associate Head Coach for the women’s basketball program at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
During his tenure at Duke, an NCAA basketball powerhouse, the Blue Devils won the ACC Championship and made two appearances in the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight.
Hernando has also coached at the professional levels in the NBA G-League and overseas in Japan and the Philippines.
Along with his coaching duties for Jessup, Planells serves as the Head Coach of the New Zealand U17 National Team, where he has been in that role since 2018.
Off the court, Hernando has worked as a sports choreographer on films such as Coach Carter, The Longest Yard, Spider-Man 3, and more.
He is a frequent public speaker at events such as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association convention and hosts the Be Contagious podcast. Visit hernandoplanells.com for more info!
