Elias G. Carayannis

Dr. Elias G. Carayannis has served as a Full Professor of Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, as well as co-Founder and co-Director of the Global and Entrepreneurial Finance Research Institute (GEFRI) and Director of the European Union Research Center (EURC) at the School of Business of the George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Dr. Carayannis’ teaching and research activities focus on the areas of strategic Government-University-Industry R&D partnerships, technology road-mapping, technology transfer and commercialization, international science and technology policy, technological entrepreneurship, and regional economic development. He is also Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, the International Journal of Innovation and Regional Development and on the Editorial Boards of several academic journals (such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, the Journal of Knowledge Management and others).

He consults for a wide variety of technology‑driven organizations in both government and the private sector, including the World Bank, the European Commission, the Inter-American Development Bank, the US Agency for International Development and the Fraunhofer Network of Research Centers in Germany and other countries focusing on the use of Artificial Intelligence applications in the Economy and the Society as well as challenges and opportunities that pertain to Democracy, Technology and Environment trends and developments concerning developed and developing countries.
