A Passionate Attorney for Human Rights, Refugees and Victims

Elena Gklegkle, a seasoned attorney based in Athens, focuses on human rights law, passionately advocating for victims of domestic violence, abused children, Roma people, refugees, and trafficking victims. Her career began in commercial law, but she quickly transitioned to her true calling, dedicating her expertise to supporting the marginalized. Glegle encourages students to dream ambitiously and highlights the transformative impact of technology on the legal profession, including the emergence of virtual lawyers and rapid-response legal services.

Elena Gklegkle

Eleni Gklegkle is an attorney practicing law in Athens since 1996. She specializes in family law handling mostly cases of victims of domestic violence, including persons with special needs, victims of trafficking, refugees, and abused and neglected women and children.

She has also specialized in working with children sheltered in several governmental and non-governmental organizations, representing them in court, working with psychologists and social service teams, as well as with the children themselves.

She has worked pro bono with the DA’s office of minors in Athens, the Athens Bar Association, the International Organization for Migration, and several NGO’s.
As an expert, she represented Greece and worked in several countries (such as Albania, Serbia, Latvia, Georgia etc.) with high-level ministry officials and legislators on trafficking issues and the status of minors in orphanages.
In addition, she has conducted numerous lectures on the issue of trafficking in persons, domestic violence as well as on violence in minors. A few articles have been published in Greek magazines and newspapers on the same issue.

She was nominated in 2005 by the Hellenic Ministry of Justice to the European Community to attend a training program for civilian aspects of crisis management. She also was nominated in 2005 for the Transparency International Integrity Awards and for the Yale Worlds Fellows Program in 2006.

She was selected by several ministries, including the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, and the Ministry of Education and Religion. She represented Greece at many international conferences.
She has attended the International Visitor Programmes in the USA.

She is the mother of a ten-year-old boy. She lives and works in Athens.
