Occupational therapy helps children build the skills they need to succeed in everyday activities like writing, cutting with scissors, or staying focused in class. Our occupational therapist works with students on things like hand strength, coordination, attention, or sensory needs or gross motor coordination and fine motor coordination. Gross motor skills involve large movements like running, jumping, climbing, and sitting upright, which help with balance, strength, and coordination. Fine motor skills focus on the smaller, more precise movements of the hands and fingers, like holding a pencil, using scissors, or picking up small objects. Developing these skills, in an engaging way, supports a child’s independence and success in both the classroom and daily life. The goal is to help each child feel confident and capable in their learning and daily routines.
