CanSat Program
About this Program
The CanSat program is an initiative under the European Space Agency (ESA) to bolster CanSat activities across Europe. A CanSat is a miniature satellite designed to fit within the size of a standard beverage can, challenging students to integrate all essential satellite subsystems—such as power, sensors, and communication systems—into this compact form. Once built, the CanSat is launched to an altitude of several hundred meters by rocket or released from a platform or balloon, where it then carries out a scientific mission and safely lands using a recovery system like a parachute. This program offers students a unique, hands-on experience in space exploration, allowing them to manage everything from design and mission planning to testing and data analysis. Join the ACS Athens CanSat Team and take part in this exciting opportunity to engage in innovative space projects and develop valuable practical skills.
